Install rockbox to ipod classic

Does anyone know what happened or what I need to do to get it working with Rockbox? It worked prior to my changing out the hard drive. Just finished putting it in with an 8GB sd card to test it, and am having difficulties.

I previously had rockbox installed on my ipod classic gb thin, before it stopped working. After replacing the card, I can boot to emcore again, but I cannot get the ipod to mount on the computer except in UMSboot mode through emcore. Rockbox fallback image refuses to load and gives a panic error message. My iPod Classic GB does have rockbox installed. Hi Tarkan, I just flashed the latest emcore version from that zip together with rockbox, but now for some reason emcore does not autostart rockbox anymore.

This is on emCORE v0. Any ideas? The hardware installation went smoothly thanks Tarkan! Then I Followed the instructions for Rockbox hoping to break this limit and show the full , however, as soon as I safely eject the temporary drive, I get stuck on the booting screen.

But it has been stuck like this for the past hour. Does it usually take a long time, or am I doing something wrong? JJ — it is because you restored with iTunes first, and that has caused the partition table to be written showing Gb. Then you can re-install in to the iPod, and when booting up EmCore, go to the tools menu and format data partition.

I found link with Rockbox for iPod 5. As far as I understand the iPod 5. There are mSata drive specific builds of Rockbox — the standard build of Rockbox does not work very well with SSD drives in general. Your email address will not be published.

Shane — what does the HDSpecs screen with in the iPod diagnostics report? Have you tested your SD cards, in an external card reader, or just install one of the Gb cards and see if that changes anything. Make sure uSD1 slot is occupied with a card. I have a possibly silly question.

Will I have still have this functionality if I were to install RockBox? Anybody ever try this? I am having the problem where if I restore with iTunes I get a white screen of death. I have successfully completed the install, however, my disk space shows that only gb of the are available. I have tried formatting the disk partition and reinstalling rockbox with no success.

I have a 6. I followed all the instructions and can currently boot Rockbox; however, the system still only recognizes GB of space. Can someone help? Some quick and dirty advice on things like plugging in without USB mode or installing themes would be helpful, too. Your email address will not be published. Notify me of follow-up comments by email. Not sure what I did, but wasn't as terminal as I thought, amazing what panic will do to a person. The great thing about Rockbox is that it opens the Ipod up to Blind and partially sighted people who have to rely on very expensive accessible players, shame when this is free!

Also, take that Itouch people! We can play videos as well. I'm afraid not Im sorry : only nano first gens black or white, 1gb,2gb,4gb models support it so if you are correct and have a 2nd gen a good way of describing it has a aluminum enclosure and is the same all around and doesnt have a chrome back and then a different coloured face.

Dannnnngggg really?? So like if i get rockbox nothing will happen if i have a second gen? Well, its supposedly in development. Playing movies on an ipod nano is easy :D all you have to do is convert them to the right format i might make another step in this instructable on how to do it later :P -tin.

I have a Nano 4g, and RockBox only has the Nano 1g and 2g downloads. This has proven to be tricky, so here are additional instructions. A device in DFU mode is hard to tell apart from a turned off device. The screen is completely black, nothing happens if you press any of the buttons.

It should work fine, while some people reported that Rockbox USB mode is slow or broken. If not, use Apple's Disk mode.
