Sims character creation

The talented modders from the Sims community are constantly bringing the latest fashion trends to the Sims 4 in the form of Custom Content—fan-made, free add-ons that provide style to any Sim. There are many sites to browse for new clothes, hair, and accessories, but The Sims Resource and various Tumblr pages like Maxis Match CC World are the most popular and best organized of the bunch.

Though the Sims team has made an effort to create more diverse hairstyles, they still haven't caught up to the mods. Aside from the facial hair that is restricted to male Sims, The Sims 4 doesn't provide much in terms of body hair. Seeing this obvious gap in the game, modders have made it their mission to stop the abundance of hairless Sims with as many different Body Hair mods as they can. These work as overlays over the Sims' bodies, giving them the appearance of being much hairier than they really are, and are available for both female and male Sims.

One day, the Sims team will hopefully add body hair to the game, but for now, Simmers have their community to save the day. Let's be honest. The blocky, shapeless eyelashes in the Sims 4 are awful and could definitely be better. Thankfully, there are several mods that remedy this issue. Kijiko's 3D Lashes is more than simply a fan-favorite at this point, as most dedicated Simmers utilize the mod and are quick to recommend it as the best option to replace EA's eyelashes.

Once added to the game, Kijiko's 3D Lashes can be found in the glasses section in CAS and can be applied to teens, adults, and elder Sims. When struggling to create the perfect Sim, it's always better to first try the preset features in CAS and go from there. The Sims 4 already provides a number of pre-made mouths, eye-shapes, and noses, but the Sims community has many more to offer. Continuing on with some more makeup, here is the Carli Bybel Palette to make up for the incredibly bad mac inspired makeup added into the sims this year.

Based on a real eyeshadow palette, this eyeshadow comes in an outstanding thirty different swatches. Get the Carli Bybel Palette: here. The eyebrows included within the sims 4 are slightly lacking, considering the lack of fine detail and stray hairs. This is one of the many eyebrow cc pieces that aims to correct that by providing a more realistic and detailed alternative. Stray hairs are visible while still remaining a generally glamorous option. Get the Luca Eyebrows mod: here. Skins can make a big difference to your sims appearance.

This mod is a custom skin thatoverlays with any other default skin you have in-game; it creates skin detail and shadows, making your sims appear more realistic. Get the Lizhi skin: here.

You might have noticed that the sims 4 is lacking in the skin detail department. Most of the skin details featured in the vanilla game are fantasy and supernatural oriented and what is left lacks quality. This is one of the many high-quality skin details you can get from the sims custom content community.

It comes with three different freckle variations and four different color swatches, so you can bring a bit of character to your sims skin. Get the Cerberus Freckles mod: here. Here is another excellent skin overlay to boost your sims appearance and bring some realistic facial detail into the game. This is a very natural overlay that fits the maxis style helping youmake beautiful sims without sacrificing in-game immersion.

Get the Penguin skin blend mod: here. If you are looking for a diversity of characters within your sims game or have Vitiligo and often find yourself underrepresented in media. This will make a perfect addition to your game. This is a skin overlay mod that brings greater realism to your game by allowing you to make sims with the skin condition Vitiligo.

Let's not forget about pets while on the topic of cosmetics, because cats and dogs certainly deserve the best as well. While the original Maxis look of cats and dogs isn't that bad, they could use a little bit of tweaking to give them a more realistic appearance.

This is especially the case for eyes. Luckily, there's a whole host of realistic animal eyes, and these Real Eyes by dangerouslyfreejellyfish are perfect to level up the look of any cat or dog in the game. It's a miracle that Maxis hasn't worked on nails for its Sims more in recent years. With how much nails are trending right now, it would be a small but very welcome feature in the game to have more customization for nails, including toenails.

Again, custom content creators come to the rescue! SintikliaSim's gorgeous sharp ombre nails are a great, dramatic addition to any game and to complete the look of a passionate fashion influencer Sim. Ever thought that the sizes and shapes found in presets of The Sims 4 just feel a bit restrictive? Since not every player has the time and energy to spend a lot of time making their ideal body, there's a ton of presets that players can download to speed up the process and find the body type they want.

The curvy body type especially is a bit clunky looking in the game, which is why Redhead Sims' gorgeous body preset brings so much more variety and representation into the game.

It's just what every player needs! When The Sims 4 first launched, many players found themselves checking their screen configuration in confusion. In-game lighting had become dark, gloomy and with an extremely noticeable blue hue to the game especially at night. Right away cc creators were hard at work to fix this, some simply making the game brighter, others like Wrixles made a "No Blue" mod to the delight of players.

But the most notable creator, BrntWaffles , took this as a challenge creating a beautiful world lighting mod called "Astral Lights" pictured above which didn't just fix the blue but created wondrous sky to enjoy. Eyes are the most expressive feature for humans and Sims alike. Changing this can give sims a more life-like quality or more magical like when creating fantasy creature sims like aliens. Default replacement changes all sims eyes in the game, but simmer can also opt for contacts that only change a single sim's eyes.

DFJ has some gorgeous default eyes called "Encore" that give a starry-eyed look or make sims more unique with contacts such as Pralinesims "Heterochromia" eyes to make them have two different colors. Players can also make eyes seem realistic by added 3D eyelashes like the ones made by Kijiko. Check the full video out below for the features available for the character designer. As well as creating a character you can then control him or her and live out a simulated life in a diverse online world.
